Theme: The focus of this project was to highlight the over consumption of alcohol among Americans. I believe that people are aware of the side effects of drinking too much, but don’t believe that it could happen to them. The goal is to inform people on the matter sooner rather than later. It’s about giving them the knowledge on how alcohol impacts your health, and what steps they can take to drink moderately.
The poster acts as an introduction of the topic providing an overview of how much alcohol Americans are really consuming. Moving into the magazine layouts, each spread has its own area of emphasis: the issue of alcohol consumption (binge drinking and excessive drinking), the side effects and a solution - drinking in moderation. The graphic models were a range from bar graphs, diagrams and a map. The app then expands on the Blood Alcohol Content graphic model. It provides users with Blood Alcohol Content calculator on the go.
In the process of collecting data, and representing the information visually, I learned of the importance of having a focus and to be as specific as possible. From there it’s easier to branch out the details.
